A podcast

about the inspiration and fight to build the happiest place on earth.

Disneyland didn't just change American entertainment. It invented the model that every theme park, cinematic universe, and streaming franchise still runs on today. Black Sunday is a documentary podcast about how it got built — the obsession behind it, the money that almost wasn't there, the construction crew that had thirteen months and no blueprint, and the opening day disaster that ninety million Americans watched live on television. The story Disney doesn't tell about itself. Hosted by Teo Hernandez. New episodes every week.

Teo Hernandez

Teo Hernandez grew up a Navy kid, moving between Connecticut and Virginia, with Disney movies as one of the few constants. He went on to train as a journalist, developing a habit of asking what the official story leaves out. Black Sunday is the result — a documentary podcast about the making of Disneyland that goes behind the myth Walt Disney spent decades perfecting.
